COVID Operations Update 2-24-22
February 24, 2022Heartland’s health and safety standards have thus far been very successful in containing the spread of the COVID-19 virus on campus. The success of these safety measures is due to everyone's collective efforts, and we thank you all for the work you have done to support these measures.
To this point the College has seen very few cases of COVID traced back to on-campus transmission. We have 91% student compliance of vaccination or weekly testing reporting and 99% employee compliance.
Earlier this month the Governor announced that Illinois is on track to lift the public indoor statewide mask requirement in most settings, including higher education, at the end of February. Even though the state’s masking requirement will end, Heartland will continue to promote health and safety guidelines on campus.
Effective February 28, face coverings will still be required at Heartland Community College in the following areas:
- Classrooms and labs
- Library
- Tutoring areas
- Testing Center
- COVID-19 Testing Sites
- Child Development Lab
Students, employees, and visitors are also expected to wear a face covering in a private office if requested.
All other COVID-19 mitigations remain in place. There is no change to the College’s COVID-19 testing or vaccination requirements.
Even with our high numbers of vaccinated and tested individuals at Heartland, it is important to be mindful of the most vulnerable among us in the College Community. Individuals should feel comfortable wearing face coverings in College spaces, and let’s all be respectful and supportive of one another recognizing that the we are better when we work together.
