Mia Kaufman selected as student speaker for Heartland Community College Commencement

Mia Kaufman has been selected as the student speaker at the Heartland Community College’s 30th annual commencement celebration. 

Mia Kaufman, from Clinton, Illinois, will graduate this spring with an Associate in Arts from Heartland Community College. Kaufman as able to obtain her degree in one year, and in that short time was able to be highly involved in the various activities and opportunities the College has to offer. 

Kaufman served as the 2021-22 Student Government Association President, secretary of the national Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and was an active member of both Heartland's Honor Society and Political Science Club. After graduation from Heartland, Kaufman will be attending the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to major in Global Studies.  

The Heartland Community College Commencement will take place on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. at the Grossinger Motors Arena, 101 S. Madison St. in downtown Bloomington. 

The ceremony will recognize those graduating with associate degrees and certificates as well as students from the Heartland Academy for Learning Opportunities (HALO) and Adult Education programs. Approximately 360 graduates are expected to participate.
