June 30, 2022

Heartland Community College Athletics has named Alex Trent as Head Coach of the Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams.

Trent will lead squads that saw great success in recent seasons. Last year the Women’s Soccer team rode a perfect 20-0 record to a NJCAA Division II National Championship. The Men’s team posted a 10-8-1 overall record and captured a Region 24 title.

“We are extremely excited to have coach Trent join us. The recent success of our soccer programs has attracted talent like Alex. He’s everything we’re looking for and can’t wait to see where his efforts take this program,” said Heartland Athletics Director Ryan Knox.

Trent recently served as a High-Performance Coach for the MLS Orlando City Soccer Club. He has previously served at Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at University of Texas, Permian Basin and as Head Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Iowa Western Community College.

This past season he was also serving as Director of Program Physical Performance for the Odessa College (Texas) volleyball team when he was tapped to serve as Interim Head Coach volleyball coach for a two-week period COVID incapacitated the regular staff.

As a player Trent played and for Ottawa University and Iowa Western before a pro career that included time with the USL League Two West Virginia Chaos.

The head coaching position became vacant when Norman Ramos departed for Texas A&M International University.
