Heartland honors Adult Education grads

The Heartland Community College’s Adult Education Department has recognized a group of students who have made an impact professionally, academically, and with community service.

During National Adult Education and Family Literacy (NAEFL) week, September 19-23, the Heartland Adult Education program honored past and present students at a Hall of Fame event. 

Heartland Community College Adult Education offerings include GED/High School Equivalency, Academic and Functional English as a Second Language programs, and other pathways to connect adult students to college-level education.

On Tuesday, September 20^th Adult Education alumni were recognized with awards at Heartland’s Astroth Community Education Center (ACEC) auditorium. Honorees include immigrants from the Democratic Republic of Congo who developed their language skills to enter into the fields of nursing and medical lab work, a GED student who went on to gain a college degree and intern at NASA, and a graduate who moved to law school before opening a private practice for family and immigration law.
