Veterans Recognition Events set for November
November 1, 2023Heartland Community College has scheduled events in November to recognize veterans.
Guest speaker Dr. Cedric Williams, author of “Brick by Brick,” will speak at a Veterans Recognition event beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 9 in the Workforce Development Center (WDC) located on the Normal campus (1500 W. Raab Rd.).
Heartland Community College Veterans Center Facilitator Bob Kearney will also give remarks about the history and significance of Veterans Day, and a moment of silence will be observed at 11:11 a.m. to commemorate the armistice, marking the end of World War I. This event is open to the public.
Heartland Community College is also collaborating with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to provide complimentary tickets to all student veterans for the U of I football game on Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11.
The College is also holding a Student Veteran appreciation event and Esports Tournament on November 18, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Workforce Development Center.
