Heartland employees and students dedicate day to community

May 2, 2023

Heartland Community College employees and students dedicated a day to community service on Friday, April 28.

During the Heartland Community College Annual Service Day, nearly 300 employees and student volunteers participated in 22 different projects aimed at bettering the community. These projects ranged from working with the McLean County YMCA, Carle Bromenn Medical Center, and Homes of Hope, to creating reusable menstrual pads, planting trees for the Ecology Action Center, socializing with animals at the Livingston and Logan County Humane Societies, and many more.

The annual Service Day is a testament to Heartland’s commitment to making a difference in the community with volunteers having dedicated over 800 hours of time. By encouraging volunteers to commit their time and resources, the College hopes to inspire others to give back to the community.

Employees are encouraged to volunteer for these projects during their regular work hours.

Heartland Service Day was an opportunity to show that small acts of kindness can have a significant impact on the community.

Community organizations interested in being a part of next year's Annual Service Day can contact Gena Glover at gena.glover@heartland.edu.
