ALES Math Placement Test

If you are transfering a math course from another institution, submit your official transcripts to Records. Upon review, they will determine the equivalent math course and will communicate your math placement through your MyHeartland email. 

If you need an immediate placement, please consider taking the placement test. 

In order to utilize your high school GPA for a math placement, you must have an overall GPA (listed below) as well as 4th year semester(s) of math. 

If your high school GPA is not shown, you may need to submit your high school transcripts or your high school GPA may not meet the requirements. Please contact Admissions at 309-268-8011 to confirm arrival of your high school transcripts or check your Student Center. 

3.0+ on a 4.0 unweighted scale
3.75+ on a 5.0 unweighted scale
83+ on a 100.00 unweighted scale

Your placement is at Math 131/141. 

If your score is lower, you may need to take the placement test.

• Math section score of 500+ for placement at Math 131 or Math 141
• Math section score of 530+ for placement at Math 109 or Math 135 

AARIT = Arithmetic
ACLM = College Level Math

NARIT = Next-Generation Arithmetic
NAAF = Next-Generation Advanced Algebra Functions (If you scored a 239 or below on NAAF, refer to your Arithmetic scores for your placement)
