GED Classes
Whether you want to learn Adult Basic Education skills or need a refresher on the skills required to pass your High School Equivalency (GED), we're here to help you reach your goal.
You must be 17 years of age to take the GED test. Students must be 16 or older to attend classes. However, any student under 18 years of age will have to provide a high school release before attending class.
How Much Are Classes?
High School Equivalency (GED) classes are free.
How Do I Get Started?
To get started, first complete the online enrollment form and schedule your placement test. You can also contact the placement testing facility nearest you to be added to schedule an in person placement testing session. Once the form and testing is complete, you'll need to attend an orientation where you learn more about Adult Education program and determine your class schedule.

Can I Take Other Classes?
Yes, but you may not be eligible to receive financial aid without the High School Equivalency certificate.
Level Up GED
You can attend credit classes while finishing your GED or AELP program! The Level Up GED program offers different pathways that you may be interested in, such as Digital Media, Business Technology, Health Work Ready, Information Technology, Industrial Technology and more!
Complete and Connect
If you are 16 to 24 years old, this program is the opportunity to earn your GED/High School Equivalency while working on college and work readiness. The Complete and Connect Program works in partnership with Career Link, a non-profit organization that connects individuals with employment opportunities through training and services. Heartland provides the classroom aspect through four in-person levels while Career Link provides the employment opportunities.

How Do I Sign Up for the GED Test?
High School Equivalency (HSE) exams are administered at Heartland Community College through Pearson VUE Testing. These exams are offered at all three HCC locations: Normal, Lincoln and Pontiac.

How Do I Get My Scores?
Approximately two hours after you've completed testing, your scores will be posted under your profile on ged.com.
If you need results from past testing, call the Regional Office of Education from the county in which you tested.
